DREAMWEAVER: THE BASICS

Dreamweaver is a popular and powerful tool for making web site development and management easy and enjoyable. Peter will teach you construction and design techniques so that you can create a professional looking web site with flair.

REQUIREMENTS
Basic mouse, keyboard and computer operation skills are required.

What is covered in this course

- Explain basic concepts about the Internet and the World Wide Web, and how to publish a site.
- Navigate in the Dreamweaver work environment.
- Create a basic Web page by typing text and importing graphics.
- Design a site from scratch, beginning with developing a site map, through final upload of the site to a Web server.
- Import text into Dreamweaver pages using several methods.
- Perform character and paragraph formatting on text, and define and apply HTML styles to speed up repetitive formatting.
- Add links within a site, create anchors, and specify external links.
- Create and format tables to assist in page design.
- Use images as links and create image maps.
- Build a frame-based site to assist the viewer in navigation.
- Understand the differences between bitmap and vector graphics.
- Use the Info panel to precisely scale objects.
- Understand the GIF, JPEG, and PNG file formats to choose the right one for each kind of image.
- Import bitmap (raster) graphics and modify them in Bitmap Mode.
- Create selections within bitmap images using the Lasso, Marquee, and Magic Wand tools.
- Import and modify text objects, and merge them with vector graphics.
- Understand image resolution as it pertains to Web based graphics.
- Show and edit rulers, grids, and guides in order to help position items with precision on a Web page.
- Create hotspots to which you will assign links, alt text, and link targets.
- Create simple and customized rollover and disjoint rollover effects using effects, patterns, and textures.
